Infinix S5 Pro Design

The Infinix S5 Pro may be a cheap smartphone, but the design is exactly the opposite. Whether it is the Forest Green or Violet Flower, the S5 Pro is easily recognizable and likable. Just like any modern phone, the S5 Pro has a conventional build.

The front of the phone is protected by a flat piece of glass, there is a plastic frame with a glossy finish, and the back may look like glass. The actually is actually plastic with a couple of layers. The 6.53-inch notch-less screen is probably the first thing everyone will notice about the phone, and this is good.

All but the bottom bezels are very slim, the corners are nicely rounded and the color of the phone seems punchy and saturated. The 40/32/16MP selfie camera was placed on the motorized pop-up module at the top of the S5 pro.

It goes up and down automatically every time you open and close the selfie mode from within the camera app. There are some screen lighting effect if you are keen on such animation, but you can opt-out of the eye candy.

Infinix promises a lifespan of at least 150,000 retractions of the pop-up, and I hope it will really last that long. The frame of the phone is thin, glossy, and somewhat sharp, and helps the S5 Pro feel secure enough in hand in spite of all its glossy body.

The Infinix S5 Pro has a tri card slot on the left side, while the physical control on the right side of the phone. The bottom of the S5 Pro contains a lot, the audio jack, the dated micro USB port, the mouthpiece, and the speaker.

S5 Pro Performance

The Infinix S5 Pro is a fairly decent looking phone, it has a glassy and glossy feel. The Infinix S5 Pro is powered by a 2.35GHz MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core chip, paired with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB expandable storage.

The Helio P35 is manufactured on TSMC’s 12nm FinFET process and contains an octa-core Cortex A53 processor (4.2 x 2.3GHz + 4 x 1.8 GHz). There is also a PowerER GE8320 GPU. The Cortex-A53 is a dated core and the Infinix S5 Pro has 8 of it.

Whether the phone is a single core or a multicore, the point is that core is quite outdated. The PowerVR GE8320 is a feeble GPU and while it will do for an arcade games and not so demanding shooters. The phone doesn’t lag, the phone responds fast and the apps runs well without glitches.

The only noticeable lag is when you are trying to open the phone with your pin but this doesn’t happen with the fingerprint unlock. The Infinix S5 Pro comes with an inbuilt DTS feature for enhanced sound quality. The apps on the phone run well but when it comes to gaming apps, there might be so many lags. However, if you are not the gaming type, you might want to ignore it.

Infinix S5 Pro Display

You should note that the phone only supports the lowest Widevine CDM level – L3 which means the phone won’t be able to play high-resolution content from Netflix, Prime, or other streaming platforms. However, the phone can still serve you 480p content.

Software

The Infinix S5 Pro comes with XOS 6.0. which is actually a proprietary launcher running on top of the latest Android 10. The phone comes with a lot of customization options and comes with a few installed third-party apps probably part of an advertising deal made to lower the S5 Pro price even more.

The sensors of the phone include accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass.

Infinix S5 Pro Camera

Ahead of the Infinix S5 launch, its camera was one of the most talked-about features. All eyes were on the 40/32/16MP pop up AI selfie camera that makes the phone different from others. A phone at its price range with a pop-up camera is quite amazing.

This makes the Infinix S5 Pro the cheapest phone with a pop-up camera. The Infinix S5 Pro features a triple camera setup at the rear which comprises a 48/16MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide lens camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. The pictures that were shot with the phone in daylight are very impressive.
